JOB TITLE:
Executive Assistant

SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Provide executive level administrative support to the Head of Research USA and the KWS Gateway
Research Center leadership team in general.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Manage, identify and clarify requirements for special projects, events, and speaking engagements;
research options; coordinate and confirm reservations for travel, dining, lodging, entertainment,
rentals, transportation, events, couriers, other services; schedule meetings, luncheons and
conferences; and plan and coordinate logistics.
• Liaison for communications with the executive leadership, staff, external clients, and the public.
• Draft, edit, proofread, and review internal and external correspondence, e-mails, reports,
publications, and media for internal and external clients and the public. Also, capture notes from
meetings, etc.
• Manage spreadsheets for tracking, ability to work with and understand general financial reports,
processing and classifying P-card expenses.
• Collaborate and coordinate on process improvement and development of content for projects and
strategic plan deliveries.
• Establish professional relationships with key stakeholders of the company, local and international.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously ensuring that deadlines are met. Prioritize work by
evaluating risk, importance, urgency, and potential business, organizational and/or client
implications.
• Utilize expert time management skills and expert judgment to conserve time by screening,
researching, and managing correspondence, messages, telephone calls, and clients; preventing
interruptions; and resolving issues.
• Research, collect and analyze business data. Utilize technical expertise to generate applicable
communications and reports.
• Other administrative duties as needed by the business.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent executive administrative experience.
• At least 5 years experience providing executive administrative support.
• Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and
projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership,
staff, and internal and external clients.
• The ideal candidate is a confident self-motivated executive administrative professional who
thrives in a challenging fast-paced professional environment
• Proactive and exercise sound judgment and decision making. Demonstrated ability to analyze,
identify problems and needs, and develop solutions and/or options.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proven Intermediate to advance proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Outlook, Publisher, etc.), and ability to learn and work with other software programs.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive data.
• Experience conducting research utilizing traditional, online and creative methods.
• Ability to travel local and international to support leadership team endeavors and business
priorities.

Group Leader, Plant Transformation Pipeline

SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
We currently welcome applications for a Group Leader position located at the KWS Gateway Research Center in St. Louis USA. As group leader, this position will be responsible for a team that develops and employs high throughput pipelines for plant transformation, initially focused on monocot plants within the KWS crop portfolio. This position will also work in close collaboration with the KWS global research and service groups. Reports to Head of Research USA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Develop and direct pipelines for high-throughput transformation of monocot plants, implementing protocols optimized within the KWS group
• Establish efficient protocols and greenhouse procedures for growing of donor material and performing trials of transgenic material in the greenhouse
• Support implementation of a stewardship program and documentation systems for all stages of the pipeline
• Lead and manage a team of qualified technical staff
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and state and federal guidelines
• Other duties and projects to support the needs of the business

REQUIRED:
• Expertise in tissue culture and transformation of monocot plants
• Experienced in implementing plant transformation pipelines
• Proven leadership and team skills
• University degree (preferably PhD) in biology or related fields
• Ability to think creatively. Independent, pro-active and goal-orientated work style
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral

DESIRED:
• 5+ yrs academic or industry working experience
• Direct experience working with monocot and dicot plants in the greenhouse
• Experienced working with laboratory documentation systems
• Proficiency in plant molecular biology
• Able to travel domestic and international (25%)

SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
We currently welcome applications for the position of Group Leader to develop and lead a new research group on plant development and regulation of growth. As group leader, this position will direct a research program that develops and applies innovative approaches to identify genes that influence developmental processes related to crop yield. This position will contribute to the technology and gene portfolios for trait development at KWS, working in close interaction with the global research and service groups at KWS. In addition, this position is expected to develop a network and supervise research collaborations with relevant domestic and international research communities. Reports to Head of Research USA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Develop novel assays to clarify target gene functions in plant growth and development
• Develop high-capacity pipelines to filter target genes by biological relevance
• Interact closely with other groups to customize pipelines for different traits
• Direct the research program, lead and manage a research team
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and state and federal guidelines
• Other duties and projects to support the needs of the business

REQUIRED:
• Expertise in plant developmental biology
• Experience with characterization of plant gene function
• Proven leadership and team skills
• University degree (preferably PhD) in biology or related fields
• Ability to think creatively to identify solutions
• Excellent communication skills in English, written and oral

As Group Leader, this position will build KWS’ expertise in photosynthesis and direct a research program of new discovery to improve technology and gene portfolios for trait development at KWS. The Group Leader will interact very closely with molecular breeding, research and service groups at KWS, and will also be expected to develop a network with relevant domestic and international research communities. Reports to Head of Research USA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Develop innovative research topics in crop photosynthesis, direct the research program
• Develop and employ efficient physiological assays and phenotyping platforms
• Develop pipelines for lead gene discovery and validation in field trials
• Develop innovative approaches for yield improvement in crops
• Lead and manage a research team
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and state and federal guidelines
• Other duties and projects to support the needs of the business

REQUIRED:

• Develop efficient protocols for plant regeneration for different crop species
• Lead and manage a research team

• Expertise in plant cell culture research, including functional modification
• Experience with regeneration approaches
• Proven leadership and team skills
• University degree (preferably PhD) in biology or related fields
